What I would like to do is take a nice thick drinking straw and stick it down deep in that sauce and just sit there for like 45 minutes, almost breathing the Korma sauce deep into my gut. Purely, deadly, delicious. I'd like to ladle that stuff into my pockets and walk around warm and flavorful all day. Friendly, quick service.

First of all, it's impossible to make a decision on what to eat when you're in City Market because everything looks great. But what looked and sounded best to me that day, was Mediterranean. I wanted a gyro and I wanted spanakopita. Ameer to the rescue!
I ordered a gyro pita and spanakopita (got the last one!). The pita is so light and fluffy with deliciously flavored gyro meat - I was full all afternoon. The spanakopita was an extra treat. I went for this instead of a side because it's hard to resist feta and spinach wrapped up in a perfect blanket of crispy phyllo dough.
It's a no-nonsense stand, no frills, but the food is great. I paid at the counter - they take cards with a square reader/iPad and had a fabulous lunch for under $10. -

This place was excellent! My husband and I stopped by on a Thursday afternoon during the lunch rush (and FFA was in town!) but we got through the line very quickly.
Both of our meals were delicious. My husband got a chicken shawarma sandwich that he mentioned would be good with a few more banana peppers but was still great. I got a beef meal with some kind of yogurt sauce and a side of potatoes. It was soooo good! At first, I didn't expect the flavor of the sauce over the beef, but really came to love it. I'm excited to go back and try a few more things :)
We ended our experience with some baklava which was perfect. Like little flaky, nutty, honey pinwheels. Wow.
Definitely stop in here if you get a chance! -

I've only been inside City Market a few times, and I grab a gyro from Ameer every time! The meat is so tender and flavorful. But what really gets me is the pita bread. It's so soft and warm and fresh. I could eat a stack of this pita bread all day if I had to.
The combo meals make it easy to order quickly, and my meal is ready in a flash. Super convenient if you're on your lunch break and have a time crunch. -

They have much more than just Gyros. I love the city market. So many delicious smells.
